Another week of misery in Week 9…a 2-3 record puts me at under .500 at 22-23 on the season. The Jets lost by 4 after being 3.5-point underdogs, the Titans lost by 8 after being 5-point underdogs, and the Steelers lost by 7 after being 3-point underdogs. Awful, just abysmal.
Let’s take a stab at NFL Week 10 with my five locks against the spread.
1. Atlanta Falcons (6-3) @ Philadelphia Eagles (4-4) (+1)
They are we thought they were! Those could be the words to describe the Eagles following their 3-0 start. They are 1-4 since and Carson Wentz has looked more like a rookie QB now. They have only lost by one possession in all those games. The Falcons offense is just too explosive right now. They have scored 23 or more points in every game and 30 or more in six of the nine games. Expect them to go into Philly and win a tight one.
2. Green Bay Packers (4-4) @ Tennessee Titans (4-5) (+2.5)
In my opinion, this is a MUST WIN game for the Packers. They have lost two straight games by a combined six points to the Falcons and the Colts. They aren’t going to Tennessee to lose three straight. The Titans have been a nice story and all, but it’s the second half of the season. This is where we see the contenders and pretenders and the Titans are a pretender.
3. Minnesota Vikings (5-3) @ Washington Redskins (4-3-1) (-2.5)
The Vikings have lost three straight. Their offensive line is a nightmare. They can’t score. Sam Bradford won’t stay on the field with the amount of times he is getting hit. It’s a tall task for them to go on the road and beat the Redskins right now. The Redskins are fresh off a bye and well-rested. I’ll take the fresh team over the beat up one.
4. Los Angeles Rams (3-5) @ New York Jets (3-6) (-2)
I’m doing it one final time…I’m locking in the New York Jets, and I will NOT do it again! The Rams are free falling right now and Case Keenum is a couple starts away from the bench. This could be his last one. Whether Ryan Fitzpatrick starts or not, the Jets are going to find a way to prevail and stop the bleeding. I can’t see the Rams traveling across the country and winning with Keenum.
5. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4-1) @ New York Giants (5-3) (-.5)
The Giants offense is alive and well and Eli Manning is finding receivers all over the field. They take on Andy Dalton and the Bengals at home primetime Monday night. We know the history of Dalton and the Bengals in primetime…pretty awful. Expect the Giants to keep scoring and keep winning as they win their fourth straight Monday in what is basically a pick ’em.
