San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is one of the more underrated passers in the NFL. Generally, when fans are considering the list of top QBs, Rivers name doesn’t jump to mind. However, Rivers’ career, and his statistics should cause fans to reconsider their list.

This season in particular, Rivers has been carrying his team, keeping them competitive in each game despite injuries to Keenan Allen, Antonio Gates, and Hunter Henry at different points this year. In spite of those injuries, Rivers had completed 63.4% of his passes for 2,560 yards and a 17-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio coming into Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. He was also closing in on a career milestone.

He hit his long time partner in crime Antonio Gates in the first quarter for number 299 and then in the third quarter he got number 300. Facing a 3rd-and-goal from the seven, Rivers escaped a sack and lofted a perfectly placed pass into the corner of the end zone for Henry who was able to keep both feet in for the touchdown.

The team’s official Twitter account congratulated Rivers accordingly.
