What’s a day in our country without some guy named Donald Trump’s name being thrown around. Boxing legend George Foreman joined me on The Jake Brown Show on Play.it to talk about President Trump in the days before he became the President. While Foreman has not met Trump, he’s had conversations on the phone with him.
“When he was just Donald Trump, he’s President Trump now you could call him, you need some information especially about finances he’d return your call,” Foreman told me. “Always returned your call, he was one of the guys. Mike Tyson can tell you the same thing, Evander Holyfield the same thing. He was one of the guys and he would always give me a call and talk, and give me a better suite in the hotel and those things. He was a boxing guy who loved boxing, always.”
Before becoming President, did Trump give the two-time heavyweight champion any advice?
“It was all about financial advice and hoping that he’d put on those shows and he’s always paid on time,” Foreman said. “You could always squeeze him out of another one million dollars or so, you could always put the squeeze on him.”
Foreman has not chatted with him since he has ran, and actually isn’t a fan of politics.
“Since he’s been running for president I haven’t had one conversation with him because I’m not into politics,” said Foreman. “I love America and I love whoever’s president of the United States, but I’m not into politics. All I can tell him is do something and it would be wrong.”
While they have had conversations on the phone, Foreman hopes to meet Trump one day.
“I wish I could meet Mr. Trump in the office of the presidency and tell him and take a photograph so I could line it up for my great, great, great grandkids,” Foreman said. “Every president of the United States is something special. They’re walking celebrities and I have appreciated them all because they love the United States of America.”
