Wally Szczerbiak dropped by CBS Sports Radio on NBA Draft Day to discuss the future of several players and franchises, including the New York Knicks. The Knicks haven’t made the playoffs since 2013, and Phil Jackson, for reasons unknown, is reportedly shopping Kristaps Porzingis.

Ultimately, when will the Knicks – who have finished with 50+ losses in three straight seasons – be competitive again?

“We got to see what happens with Carmelo Anthony,” Szczerbiak said on Tiki and Tierney. “That’s the big decision. KP (Porzingis) is not going anywhere, in my mind. I would be shocked if he was. He’s a cornerstone franchise type player.”

Porzingis, 21, averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 65 games this past season.

“We’ll see what happens with Carmelo and then the dominoes will fall,” Szczerbiak said. “If Carmelo goes, then it becomes a complete rebuild. if Carmelo stays, maybe they can kind of slip the switch from what went wrong last year.”
