The Arizona Cardinals enter 2018 with a pair of first-round quarterbacks on their roster: Sam Bradford, who was taken No. 1 overall in 2010, and Josh Rosen, who was taken 10th overall in April.

“I think it’s a great spot for Josh to be in because you get to learn behind Sam,” Cardinals offensive lineman Justin Pugh said on Tiki and Tierney. “Coach (Steven Wilks) came in and said day one, ‘This is Sam Bradford’s job.’ That put any questioning to rest. I think that was probably the best thing for everyone on the team to hear because we know going into camp Sam’s our starter and Josh is going to back him up. But we’ve seen in this league you need to have two quarterbacks that are capable of going out there and winning games.”

Pugh, a first-round pick in his own right, spent the first five years of his career with the Giants before signing a five-year, $45 million deal with the Cardinals in March. He played with a great quarterback in Eli Manning, and he’s excited to play with Bradford and Rosen.

“The way Josh comes into the huddle, (he) has a confidence, has a demeanor about him that shows, ‘I’m going to be a really good quarterback in the NFL for years to come,’” Pugh said. “I got to see a guy like Eli Manning, how he handles himself. Both these quarterbacks handle themselves very, very similarly. It’s exciting to see. It’s exciting to see because Sam has so much talent and is going to be great for us, and the future is bright for Josh.”

The future could also be right for the Cardinals, who hope to improve on last year’s 8-8 finish.

“I think the sky’s the limit for us,” Pugh said. “If we stay healthy – which is always a big if in the NFL – we have probably one of the best, if not the best, running backs in the NFL (David Johnson). You get Sam Bradford, who was the most accurate quarterback last year in the NFL. And we have Chandler Jones, the NFL sack leader over the past three years. For some reason, no one brings Chandler up when they talk about the best pass-rusher in the NFL.

“So we got a lot of guys,” Pugh continued. “We can make some things happen. I think if you look at any division, there’s teams that are considered the favorite and it never shakes out that way. If you can run the ball, you can be successful late in the season. I think we have that. So I’m excited to get in there and find out what this division is all about.”

The Cardinals open the season at home against Washington on Sept. 9. Kickoff is at 4:25 p.m. ET.
