Ben Roethlisberger would reportedly like to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021, and former teammate Jerome Bettis believes that is what’s best for both sides.

“I think it’s a great thing,” the Hall of Fame running back said on The Zach Gelb Show. “They’ve got to get back to basics and their fundamentals in terms of working on his accuracy. The arm is still there, he can still get it down the football field – that wasn’t the issue. The issue was the accuracy, where he was placing the football – which, up until this year, had never really been a big issue. They’ve just got to work on that. I think if they can get his footwork back together, get the accuracy back, then they’ll be fine. But I do believe they got to address the quarterback situation.”

Aside from Big Ben, the Steelers also have former first-round pick Dwayne Haskins. Still, Bettis thinks the Steelers should take a quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“I think you draft someone, you bring them all together [and] let them get a chance to see what a championship quarterback looks like,” Bettis said. “Get Ben Roethlisberger for one year and then you turn them loose and say, ‘Hey, you guys have a chance to be the next starter. Who’s going to be the guy?’ Let them fight it out and see who wins."
