In August, Andrew Luck stunned the NFL world, retiring just a couple of weeks shy of his 30th birthday.
Luck, who had overcome several injuries in recent years, was coming off the best season of his career. In 2018, he had career highs in completions (430), attempts (639), yards, (4,593) and threw for 39 touchdowns – second only to the 40 he threw in 2014. He was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year for his efforts.
And then he decided to hang it up.
How’s he doing these days?
“He’s doing fine,” XFL commissioner Oliver Luck said on The DA Show. “My wife and I spent some time with him and his growing family. He just got his first child about six weeks ago. We were with him over Christmas. He’s doing great. I have not noticed any desires to come back and play, but he’s doing very well.”
The Colts started 5-2 in Luck’s absence but sputtered to a 7-9 finish. Colts fans would certainly welcome Luck back with open arms, but it appears Luck has no desire to return to the NFL and does not miss it.
“That’s correct,” his father said.
Luck was the No. 1 overall pick in 2012 and led the Colts to an 11-5 record in each of his first three seasons. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and led the league in touchdowns in 2014.
It will be interesting to see who the Colts starting quarterback will be in 2020. The Colts have the 13th pick in the draft and could be in the mix for Tom Brady, among other veterans.
