Derrick Johnson played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2005 to 2017. An All-Pro linebacker and four-time Pro Bowler, he knows how hard it is to win in the NFL.

But when he looks at the Chiefs’ current roster, he only sees one thing: a dynasty.

“I really do,” Johnson said on The Zach Gelb Show. “I wish I was playing. I was born a little too early. I can play with these guys right here. Mahomes is going to always have you in the game. They’re going to always score points. On the defensive side of the ball, you’re trying to get turnovers and sacks. It’s definitely a dynasty. It’s definitely a dynasty. If you don’t believe so, you’re not looking at the right things. They have everything in the making, especially the young quarterback. You have the head coach, [Andy Reid], who’s awesome. My best coach I’ve had. I believe it is going to be a dynasty with Kansas City.”

Wait, wait, wait. Let’s slow down for a second. Johnson said he wished he were playing for the Chiefs. Well, he’s only 37. Maybe he’s got a few more snaps left in the tank?

“Maybe a couple snaps, but not enough for nobody to pick me up right now,” Jonson said, laughing. “I like coaching from the couch right now. I’m living my best life right now. I can’t make the staggering superstar plays anymore. I’m going to leave that up to the young guys and hopefully be some kind of mentor for the guys to help them lead the way. I’ve had my chance.”

Johnson doesn’t know how many Super Bowls Mahomes will win, but he does know he’ll get at least one more.

“It’s hard,” Johnson said. “I want to say he could get up to three or four, but I’m just shooting at the stars right now. There’s potential he could get five or six. He can be the next Brady. He really, really can. He’s just that good. Plus they got a lot of weapons around Patrick Mahomes. But it’s definitely a dynasty going on. Hopefully they can go back-to-back, but he’ll definitely win another Super Bowl for sure.”
